Benefit Analyst

LSG Insurance Partners announces a staff opening for a full time Benefit Analyst in Bloomfield Hills.

SUMMARY:

Perform financial and market analysis relating to plan design and renewals, as well as year-round data reporting of key plan performance parameters for prospective and current group benefits clients.  Collaborate with peers in the ongoing stewardship of clients’ health and welfare plans. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two years related work experience in the field of employee benefits.
  • Familiarity with rating and pricing methodologies for all lines of coverage, specifically Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
  • Experience creating financial analyses using complex Excel functions. Experience presenting and discussing financial analyses in front of clients. Strong math and analytical skills, with particular attention to detail.
  • Customer-centric, professional approach in working with a variety of people. Detail oriented, with the ability to follow through and take ownership of issues. Excellent organizational and technical skills; is a self-starter and problem solver. Ability to work with minimal direction and perform tasks in a fast paced, complex working environment accurately and efficiently.  Excellent oral and written skills, used in a professional manner with clients and carriers.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.             Analyze the benefit plans of current and prospective clients. 

 

2.             Perform competitive market analyses; including the negotiation of proposed plan designs and rates with insurance carriers.

 

3.             Prepare comprehensive, objective client proposals that offer both executive summaries and detailed analyses of recommended options for consideration by the client. 

 

4.             Follow departmental procedures, including renewal activities in accordance with established timelines; up-to-date entry of data in BenefitPoint; and post-enrollment follow up where applicable.  Quickly adapt to shifts in practices as the agency evolves.

 

5.             Serve as a positive example for others.  Nurture strong, collaborative relationships between peers, clients and carriers. 

 

6.             Maintain enhanced level of technical expertise through ongoing commitment to professional development.

 

7.             Maintain confidentiality of all information related to clients, customers, employees, and carriers.
